Real Salt Lake

This is my fifth post in two days, but we've been busy playing, and I wanted to catch it up. Last night we went to our first Real Salt Lake soccer game. Rich and I both really enjoyed it, but we had to come home and look up the rules on the internet. Neither of us knows very much about the subtleties of the game.

The kids were bored during the game, but enjoyed the fireworks show afterward. David Osmond also sang a song afterwards.

Hogel Zoo

On Tuesday, we got to go to Hogel Zoo with Aunt Katie, Aspen, and baby Bryson. I must say that the zoo is still the zoo. And, it was HOT (the hottest day of the year in fact)!!!! We saw tigers, bears, giraffes, wolves, and monkeys, but no lions.

The kids had lots of fun seeing each other, and it was really nice to go with Katie.

The Utah Symphony

Monday, we took advantage of a free outdoor concert the Utah Symphony was putting on as part of Taylorsville Dayzz. We are so glad we went. The concert was really fun and family friendly. They did Star Wars, Glenn Miller, the 1812 Overture, etc. It was a good mix for the kids, who also had fun. Afterwards, we stayed for the fireworks.

We also got some grilled corn from one of the vendors. It was amazing. They dipped it in butter and in parm. cheese. Yummy! Aiden insists that he didn't like the cheese, but he ate all of Dad's cob, so, I'm not sure I beleive him.

Bryce Canyon and Calf Creek Falls

Last weekend, June 26-27, we headed to Bryce Canyon for a mini family vacation. We went down through Torrey, so we could hike the Lower Calf Creek Falls trail. It was a fun 5.5 mile hike, but we were pooped. The kids needed to be carried most of the way. The waterfall was BEAUTIFUL!

After that, we headed to Bryce Canyon and stayed the night a Ruby's Inn. The next morning, we went on a plane ride in a little Cessna to take in the view, then we spent the day inside the Park. It was gorgeous. It's my favorite park in Utah. We even hiked the Navajo loop. It was VERY cool, but it was also very steep to hike out. Again, we had to carry the kids.

We got some good exercise in, got to spend time together, and got to enjoy some of the beauty of the earth. It was a fun weekend.

Ashlyn Baby Blessing and Pictures

On June 13, we headed to Idaho for my niece, Ashlyn's, baby blessing. It was fun for everyone to stay at Kara and Troy's new house. Sunday morning, we took the big extended family pictures. Lorinda, Rich's mom, has wanted to have a big family portrait on the wall, as well as some of each individual family. Between Janae and me, we got it done. Kara and Troy live on a five acre lot with horses, and have some great scenery. Here are some of my favorites:
